Help through the Recession

Mayor"Lewisham Strategic Partnership is working together to respond quickly and appropriately to help residents and businesses in Lewisham overcome the worst effects of the recession"

As part of a package of measures the LSP has committed to in order to support the community through the downturn we are working closely with partners in the business, voluntary and community sectors and the public services to make sure people can get timely, independent and trusted advice and guidance when they need it as well as working to secure better job prospects and opportunities for residents.

We are increasing promotional campaigns to target benefit availability to ensure people are accessing their full entitlement and provide direct advice to ensure that residents are aware of, and take advantage of, the lowest energy tariffs available.  We are facilitating the payment of council tax and business rates over 12 months rather than 10.

We are working together to make sure that those that face eviction or repossession have access to flexible solutions to help them stay in their homes.

We are working to secure training and re-skilling opportunities for young people and those who are unemployed.

Please follow the links on the left for details of employment opportunities available as well as help and advice.
